Practice Middle Grades Writing Assessment
All Georgia 8th graders will take the Middle Grades Writing Assessment (MGWA) in January. This is a standardized writing test that is scored by the state. Students will be assigned either an expository or persuasive topic.
To help prepare our students for this assessment, we will administer a practice MGWA next Wednesday, September 10. We will use the format and time limits of the actual MGWA, and the essays will be sent to the state for scoring. This is a great opportunity for students to go through the process of the MGWA and get valuable feedback on their performance. We will receive scores back from the state that we can then share with the students so they can identify domains where individual students can improve.
Please try to have your students at school on Wednesday so they do not miss this valuable learning opportunity.
